MICELT
organizes the world’s most colourful conferences and

The Deputy Minister of Education, Dato’ Fong Chan Onn opened
the conference. 500 people attended the conference which featured
international speakers like Rebecca Oxford, David Nunan, Alan Maley
and Lorraine Smith. The Second MICELT was held in 1998 at the same
venue and was attended by 550 people. The Minister of Education,
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abd. Razak opened the conference. The year 2000
saw
the MILLENNIUM MICELT breaking records. 740 people attended the conference
held at the Rivera Bay in Melaka, which was opened by Foreign Minister
Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar. That year The President of TESOL, Neil
Anderson attended together with two past presidents, David Nunan

Seminar and Workshop, 2001) held in Kuantan, Pahang are examples
of such. MICELT also organised the 1st and 2nd ELT Materials Symposium in 2004(Putrajaya) and 2005(Damai Laut, Perak) respectively.
The 2nd Regional Conference on Literature and Creative Writing in The Classroom was held in 2004(Melaka) where 400 people attended. Key speakers included Brian Tomlinson, Alan Maley, Marc Helgesen, Bao Dat, Hitomi Masuhara, Jayakaran Mukundan, Chaz Pugliese, Jane Spiro and Tan Bee Tin.
MICELT also conducts teacher development workshops, and such workshops
for school teachers have been organized in Kuala Selangor, Kuantan,

The conferences and other teacher development initiatives would
not have been a success if not for the strong support from ELS Language
Centres, Pearson Education Malaysia and Thomson Learning.
