BEST ELT SITES

Introduction

The YAHOO SEARCH shows a result of more than 34 million sites for English Language Teaching which include all domains. When the search is restricted to “.org” the find is about 800,000. The “.edu” sites has a match of about 35,000. A brief and quick browse shows many sites overlap in contents. For example, many sites which are posted by organisations or institutions such as the British Council or the Oxford University Press can either be categorised as  “institutions” ,  “advertisement” or “news”, depending on whether they are grouped under corporate body or according to their contents. Similarly many of such bodies offer training courses and programmes related to ELT, which can be seen as “resources”.

It is logical, in the interest of the present mini study, that the websites are divided broadly into just a few categories for easy reference related to the professional or personal development of an ESL/EFL teacher.  The following table is divided into several categories, which provides relevant websites They are not arranged according to importance.
